Tattoo Gun

A tattoo gun is often referred to as a machine by artists. It is a handheld mechanism that holds the needle used to penetrate the skin, enabling ink to be injected.  Through practice, artists are able to determine the style and fit in a machine that is right for them.

A modern tattoo gun uses electromagnetic coils to move the needle up and down enabling ink to be injected under the outer surface of the skin. The reason a tattoo is so permanent is because the needle isn’t injecting ink into the epidermis, which is the first layer of skin tissue that is shed often, but rather in the dermis. The dermis is an underlying layer of skin tissue that is stable insuring the ink remains permanent.

Tattoo gun is able to puncture the skin fifty to three thousand times a minute. The needle inserts the skin and injects dye into place creating the look of color enabling a picture to be formed. Different needle sizes can be used for different purposes. A smaller needle may be used for makeup tattoos that are places around the eyes or lips, whereas, a larger needle may be used for a large bold back piece.
