Tattoo Ink
Tattoo ink comes in a variety of different colors from many different manufacturers. The question is, what is this ink made from? The truth be told, manufacturers are not required by the FDA to disclose the contents of the ink. This can be a scary thought considering the permanent nature of a tattoo.
Tattoo ink is generally composed of metal salts. There are also inks available that are composed of plastic and or vegetable dye; however, one will generally not know because most tattoo artists won’t reveal their compositions to others. Professionals that mix their own dye colors are often able to know exactly what a color is composed of because they did the mixing themselves.
Tattoo ink contains two parts, a carrier solution and a pigment color that can consist of different particles. The carrier solution is used as a disinfectant and a way to keep the dye evenly mixed providing the best results. Make sure that a single tattoo color is fully completed if it is going to take several visits to finish preventing color gradation.
